Guide for Authors

General Writing Instructions

  1. The manuscript submitted to the editors is a manuscript that has not been published in any other scientific journal in print or online or is not being sent to another journal, proven by filling and submitting an [Author's Statement].
  2. The manuscript is written in English and Indonesian, which is good, clear, straightforward, and concise.
  3. The script is typed using a Microsoft word program; with A4 size paper; The font used should be times new roman, size 16 pt for the Title, and 12 pt for the abstract, the script's contents. Headlines are typed in bold, whereas Latin names are typed in italics. The script is typed using a space of 1 cm with the left, right, top, and bottom margin limits should be 2.5 cm. The length of the script should not be below 12 pages and does not exceed 15 pages. All scripts are numbered with page numbers and line numbers.
  4. The Title should not exceed 14 words; it should be clear, concise, and informative. Abbreviations should be avoided—title and abstract in English and Indonesian.
  5. All the manuscripts submitted must use the online submission service with the following address: (https://lingin.upnjatim.ac.id/index.php/lingin/OnlineSubmissions) However, if you don't have an account, you can register yet as an author and filling the form register (https://lingin.upnjatim.ac.id/index.php/lingin/user/register). Some supplementary documents that must be considered and completed in the online submission (uploaded as a supplementary file):
    1. Signed copyright transfer agreement (CTA) form originally (scan the document after signed) [Download CTA Form]

  7. The manuscript should be prepared according to the following author guidelines in the PDF article Template [Download Journal Template]
  8. Manuscripts sent back to the authors after revision should be returned to the editor immediately. The revised manuscript should be uploaded to the online submission features in the upload author version from the review task window (If you have a problem, you can submit a revision in our email). The revised document should include the following:
    1. One (1) Manuscript file for revision note file in a table form concerning reviewer's comments, including the location of the revision on the revised manuscript. The table columns should be number, reviewer's comments, answer/revision note, location of revision (page number and/or line).
    2. One (1) Manuscript file for the revised manuscript file according to template-based format (Important: please give the red color highlight the revised sentences). The revised manuscript returned after three months will be considered a new submission and reviewed by other Peer Reviewers.
  9. When the manuscript has been received by the editor, the author will get a "notification for processing" at least seven days after the manuscript is received.
  10. Each article submitted to the editorial office of The Indonesian Lingin Journal of Linguistics is not charged any (free-no page charge), including free-of-charge article processing fees. This journal publisher bears the publication fee.

Guidelines For Writing Scientific Article

The Lingin Journal of Linguistics receives scientific article in the form of research or literature review. The research article is a scientific article that comes from research findings that have not been published before. The literature review article is a scientific article that comes from journals. A book review is a thorough description, critical analysis, and/or evaluation of a book's quality, meaning, and significance, often written concerning prior research on the topic.

1. Form of writing

The submitted article should be typed with a single space and margin of 2,5 cm in one side of the A4 HVS papers. The number of pages between 12-15 pages, including tables and pictures. Footnotes are not allowed. The submitted article should be written in academic English. Attaching a copy of sources from data and figures published in the submitted article is necessary. The use of scientific terms should be suited to the rules of academic writing. All the submitted articles will be assessed by expert reviewers appointed by the official journals editor. There are at least two reviewers for each manuscript for the related topic in the reviewing process. All of the reviewing process is done by way of a double-blind review and is managed by the editor in OJS.

2. Organization of article

a. Research Article

Title

The title should be clear, concise, and informative. Abbreviations should be avoided. It better contains the maximum number of fourteen (14) words. The Title should be followed by the name of the author(s) and the institution(s). If the authors come from more than one institution, symbols or numbers should be added before each author's institution.

Abstract

The abstract should be written in both English and Bahasa Indonesia. The abstract should only be typed in a single paragraph and single-column format and consist of 200-250 words. It should be brief and precise in order to help readers understand the whole article. The abstract should contain the purpose of the study, the method, the main finding(s), the value of the manuscript, the main conclusion(s), and the keywords. The keywords are written within the three spaces after the last word of abstract.

Introduction

Contains the background(s), problem(s), and the purpose(s) of the study.

Methods

Consist of an explanation about the research design, place and time, population, scale, sampling method, variable, and data collection method.

Results

This section contains findings delivered in the form of narration, table, and/or figure and also the statistical test result with a brief explanation. The title of the table(s) should be written above the table. In the contrary, the Title of the figure(s) should be written under the figure(s).

Discussions

Discussion contains specific explanations, supporting arguments, further discussion related to the previous finding(s) that have been published, and the findings that contribute to the development of public science and technology.

Conclusions

Contains a brief statement of the findings. The study's problem(s) and purpose(s) should be answered in this section.

References

References should be written alphabetically (using APA style - American Psychological Association style) by writing the family name as the first and followed by the surname. If the family name is unidentified, the last surname can be considered as the family name.

b. Literature Review article

A literature review is a scientific article that reviews journals and/or books related to advanced public health science. The article's organization is similar to the research article, which contains a Title, abstract, introduction, and references. However, the discussion of the literature review article becomes subsections in every section.

c. Book Review

Book Review approaches to reviewing a book:

Descriptive review: Presents the content and structure of a book as objectively as possible, describing essential information about a book's purpose and authority. This is done by stating the perceived aims and purposes of the study, often incorporating passages quoted from the text that highlight key elements of the work.

Critical review: Describes and evaluates the book concerning linguistics and supports this evaluation with evidence from the text and, in most cases, in contrast to and in comparison with the research of others. It should include a statement about what the author has tried to do, evaluate how well you believe the author has succeeded in meeting the study's objectives, and present evidence to support the assessment.

 

Manuscript References

All references cited in the text of the article should be written in the bibliography section and using American Psychological Association (APA) style, arranged from A to Z. It should include references obtained from primary sources (consisting of scientific journals amounting to 80% of the entire bibliography) that have been published in the last 10 (ten) years. The remaining 20% may include research articles or reports  (thesis, books, and other relevant publications).

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors must check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in the open office, Microsoft word, rtf, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is one point five-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which are found in s.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed journal section, the instructions in ensuring a blind review have been followed.
